Condition

Overall in very good condition. The bronze surfaces throughout retain a rich brown patina, showing gentle rubbing and light surface soiling in some of the recessed contours consistent with age and use. With some concentrated minor areas of discoloration to the bronze collar at the top of the base adjacent to the inset inkwell, which appears consistent with age and use. The favrile glass which is blown through the bronze reticulations appears to be original and undisturbed, with surface soiling along the edges adjacent to the metalwork. The interior lid of the ink pot with some traces of surface oxidation and discoloration. The interior below the removable glass inkwell with traces of light oxidation, and some scattered surface dirt. Immediately below the rim to the interior of the inkwell is a fractured seam extending 2/3 of the circumference with a ΒΌ inch separation. When the interior clear glass inkwell is placed, the seam separation is not visible. With period clear glass liner which has a series of small surface flecks along the entire circumference of the interior rim. With one rim chip measuring 1/8 inch in length to same interior rim. A fine example of this desk object showing gentle use.
