Condition
Overall in very good condition. The bronze surfaces throughout retain a rich brown patina, showing gentle rubbing and light surface soiling in some of the recessed contours consistent with age and use. With some scattered discolorations to the bronze elements to the exterior along the lower portion of inkstand just above the bottom edge, as seen in the catalogue illustration. With one small slightly darker circular discoloration to the exterior of the ink pot lid measuring ΒΌ inch in diameter. With scattered ink stains to the exterior of the inkwell from prior use. The favrile glass which is blown through the bronze reticulations appears to be original and undisturbed, with surface soiling along the edges adjacent to the metalwork. The interior lid of the ink pot with surface oxidation and discoloration. The rim of the inkwell with surface discoloration, light oxidation and transparent ink stains. The interior below the removable glass inkwell with traces of light oxidation, and some scattered surface dirt. With period clear glass liner. A fine example showing gentle use.
