Catalogue Note
View Near Bastia relates to a group of compositions on Corsican themes executed towards the end of the 1920s. Baranov-Rossine was by this time living in Paris and regularly exhibiting with the Salon des Independents. The offered lot reveals the influence of French impressionist techniques on the artist's constantly evolving style, which by this period combine a Cezannist approach with the bold palette of his earlier cubist period.
