St Aleksander Nevski portrayed full length and dressed as a monk, his hands raised in prayer, turning in three-quarter profile towards the Mother of God with the Christ Child in a segment of heaven, the metal basma pierced and decorated with floral motifs, apparently unmarked

the background of the central image stripped to the levkas, and the border repainted in the 19th century , some minor retouching in the painting
