Catalogue Note
Fabergé produced a number of frames with this same inventory number which were bought by members of the Imperial Family. Given the Empress' known penchant for mauve, it is a strong possibility that the present lot was one of her purchases and is the "kleiner runder rahmen, email" referenced in the illustrated invoice, the purchase made 4 December 1897 for 40 roubles, the invoice written in German and received by the Imperial Cabinet the following February.
