TWO SMALL CHINESE GILT-BRONZE FIGURES OF BODHISATTVAS QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

the first depicting Manjushri with hands in dharmacakramudra, flanked by two lotus stalks supporting a sword and book, the other depicting Tara, her hands forming varada and vitarkamudra with a lotus emanating from her right hand, both figures seated dhyanasana upon lotus pedestals and housed in a later Chinese zitan shrine fitted in the interior with two gilt and polychromed wood mandorlas.

Condition

There is wear to the blue pigment in both bodhisattva's hair, otherwise good condition. There are cracks, chips and repairs to the shrine. The glass plate intended to be slotted into the front of the shrine is missing.
