Description
- Edward Weston
- 'ERODED ROCK, POINT LOBOS'
- Gelatin silver print
mounted, signed, dated, and editioned '15/50' in pencil on the mount, titled, dated, and numbered '50R' in pencil on the reverse, 1930 (Conger 633)
Condition
This print, on semi-glossy paper and mounted on slick cream-colored board, is in generally good condition. There is minute chipping at the left edge and upper edge near the left corner. When examined in raking light, the following are visible: silvering in the dark areas, a linear impression in the upper portion; and scratches at the lower center edge. Neither the impression nor the scratch break the emulsion.
The mount is lightly soiled, front and back. The corners are bumped, and the upper corners are missing the top paper ply at their edges. The number 'F6 26' is in pencil in the lower left corner on the front of the mount. On the reverse, the lower right corner is creased, and there are several small rust-colored droplet deposits of indeterminate nature, as well as a 1/2-inch horizontal abrasion that extends across the back of the mount.
