Catalogue Note
David Roper was one of a group of friends and companions Larry Clark documented from 1963 to 1971 in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Clark's images were published in his landmark 1971 book, Tulsa, and a portrait of Roper is the first plate in the book. See Lot 137 for another image from the Tulsa series.
