Condition

In overall good condition. Engraved III under footrim. Usual minor dents and scratches. Jurande and maker very legible under the footrim, together with assay scratch (probably a later foreign control). Good weight, very nice quality, very early piece.

Catalogue Note

Le poinçon de cet orfèvre est onomastique et semble contenir un poisson. Etant donné qu'il ne semble pas présenter d'initiales, il était probablement le seul à son époque à présenter un poisson ou assimilé comme différent. Il pourrait donc s'agir du père de Pierre Ballin et grand-père du fameux Claude I Ballin. En effet, le poinçon de Pierre Ballin est PB et un dauphin.
