Catalogue Note

The contemporary weights engraved on the underside of each candlestick, 21 lots 3 1/2 pfennig and 21 lots 3 pfennig correspond to the modern weights of 310.13gr and 309.6gr respectively. Hanover used the Cologne standard in the 17th/18th century where 1 lot weighed 14.616gr. There were 16 pfennig in a  lot. The weight now of the candlesticks of 304.5gr and 303.9gr shows how little they have worn in over 300 years.
