la première, par Alexandre Magnin, Genève, vers 1825, pour le marché Ottoman,  le couvercle peint d'un paysage romancé du Bosphore au coucher du soleil, la bâte et le dessous émaillés de vert bordés d'émaux polychromes en taille d'épargne sur un fond rose, poinçon de maître, poinçon de Genève après 1815 ; la seconde peinte en plein en grisaille de putti sur un fond rouge aux bordures à entrelacs en or et émaux, poinçons de prestige français dont le poinçon de maître [?]M, charge et décharge de Jean-Jacques Prévost et lettre date de Paris P

the first made for export to the Ottoman Empire, the lid painted with an imaginary view of the Bosphorus against a sunray ground, the sides and base in transluscent fir green within polychrome taille d'épargne borders on a rose pink ground, maker's mark AM incuse in horinzontal losange and Geneva post-1815 town mark; the other box painted en plein en grisaille with putti on crimson grounds within chased and enamelled interlaced borders, French prestige marks including maker's mark [?]M, charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prévost and Paris date letter P

Condition

first : green enamel has been completely restored and is also scratched on base and loss of laquer on the front panel, there are also a number of small scratches on the en plein lid panel, also numerous pin preaks on the interior of the lid. Second: the two end panels have chipped enamel and the front and right hand side panel have been repainted.
