Condition
Canvas has an older wax relining. Overall the picture presents a strong image to the naked eye. Some impasto remains in the sitters beard and face. UV reveals a slightly discolored varnish. Minor retouches are visible under UV, a couple scattered in the face and beard, as well as a couple along the top edge, which may be due to older frame abrasion, as well as a couple throughout the drapery. Overall though, no major losses or damages, and the retouches applied are primarily for reinforcement. In a carved gilt wood frame with slight rubbing to the gilding.
