Condition
The support consists of a single, stable, panel.
the paint surface is secure and appears to be in fair condition, although somewhat abraded, under an old yellowed varnish.
An area of old discoloured retouching is visible to the naked eye lower right beneath his foot and inspection under UV light confirms this as well as revealing some other scattered minor old retouchings.
Offered in a gilt wood frame, structurally sound with some minor losses.

Catalogue Note
Saint Gengulf was an eighth-century Burgundian knight who was murdered by his wife's lover. According to an old label on the reverse an attribution to Bartolomeo della Gatta (1448–1502) was suggested by Robert Langton-Douglars in 1937.
