Condition
The painting is cooler in tone than the catalogue illustration. The support consists of one flat oak panel which is bevelled along the three edges (but not the top one) but the panel does not appear to have been cut. The paint surface is secure and appears to the naked eye to be in fair condition though the darker brown tones appear a little abraded. Inspection under UV light reveals some strengthening in the lower half of the composition as well as some retouchings in the darker shades of the sky. offered in a later carved wood frame in fair condition.
