Condition
The painting is more muted in tone than the catalogue illustration. The support consists of two horizontal panels which are flat and stable and secured on the reverse by a series of vertical batons. The signed and dated paint surface is under a thick yellow varnish but the impasto is well preserved. The darker tones for example the jug, the plums at right, and the plate upper left, and the grapes centre left have become rather thin. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals very minor retouchings concealed under a varnish. Offered in a carved wooden frame in fair condition.
