Catalogue Note
Robert Bragge was a collector and dealer who purchased many works from Cardinal Ottoboni in Rome. His portrait was drawn by Pier Leone Ghezzi and subsequently engraved by Artur Pond. The work was part of a series painted circa 1671. Another work from the series, a Personification of Architecture, was formerly in the Marshall collection and was sold London, Christie's South Kensington, 24 April 2001, lot 115 for £13,000.
