  • Pair of Grotesque Heads
  • Both pen and brown ink and wash, heightened with white, over traces of black chalk, on blue paper;
    bears old attribution on mount in brown ink: Michel Angelo. Buon. and dated in pencil below: 1498

Charles I (according to inscription on the mount);
Peter Lely (L.2092);
J. van Rijmsdijk (L.2167);
Dr. Cramer, Oxford (according to inscription on the back of the mount)

Condition

Both laid down on a mount. The medium remains fresh and strong in both heads. The animal head has a small hole lower left. Sold in a simple gilded frame
