Condition
Window mounted. Overall in good condition. Red chalk is strong and vibrant. There is a tiny hole, recto, just on the cheek of the middle female head. There is a brown stain at the lower right margin. Slight foxing (recto and verso) and some discoloration at the edges of the sheet.

Catalogue Note
These are particularly delicate and refined studies, most probably drawn from a model. A more idealized head, possibily of the same model, is on a sheet of studies in the Biblioteca Comunale, Siena which has been related to Casolani's Storia apocalittica, painted for the Santissima Trinità, circa 1600.1
