Condition

The colours of the original are a touch cooler than they appear in the catalogue illustration. Both supports consist of single, stable, flat panels bevelled on all four edges. Both paint surfaces are secure and well preserved under even varnishes. The former has a minute paint loss of 2 mm. in the upper left of the sky and there are some other tiny ares in the sky where the paint appears to be beginning to flake. The latter has apparently flaked in the past in the sky as there are some minute (approx 1-2 mm.) scattered retouchings visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV light reveals some minor scattered retouchings scattered throughout the sky of the former and more notably along the right hand margin and as well as confirming the aforementioned work in the latter also reveals some other minor scattered retouchings. Offered in matching stained wooden frames in good condition.
