Condition
Attached with a border of Japan paper on all sides to the mount, so verso not visible. Slightly discoloured in c 1cm band around the edges. Some surface losses in lower left corner. Some light brown spots throughout. Chalk slightly rubbed, but image still perfectly legible. Sold in a modern black wood frame.

This technically unusual drawing is reminiscent, in terms of composition, of the works of early 17th-century marine painters such as Hendrick Cornelisz. Vroom or Adam Willaerts.
