Purchased from the Countess of Loudoun, Loudon Castle, Galstone, Ayrshire, June 1938 (according to a tag affixed to the stretcher)

Condition

The canvas is lined. The surface of the work is in overall very good condition. There is some paint loss in the face of the subject. Under UV; inpaint in the face of the subject and around his body.
