Condition

Canvas has been glued down on panel and paint surface has been slightly pressed as a result. detail still reads very well overall. the darks of upper background and at lower left are somewhat thin and there are some scattered abrasions here and there on figures, such as on arm of maid and head of the dog. ultraviolet light reveals retouching in upper background. some very tiny dots of retouching can be seen on face and sleeve of central figure and some on costume of maid. some retouching along bottom and left edges. In an elaborately carved gilt wood frame with a loss at lower left corner and other small nicks.
