the music notated for piano in black ink, on five two-stave systems, apparently written in a single sitting, with great fluency, but replete with dynamic and articulation marks throughout, thirty-four bars music in the composer's hand, comprising two sections, both repeated, signed and dated by the composer at the foot of the page ("Frankfort am 4t December 1835, Strauss[paraph]", with some staining from the composer

1 pages, folio (34 x 21 cm), 10 hand-ruled staves,written on the verso of a printed and manuscript dinner menu ("Speise-Karte") from "Zum Wiedenbusch", Frankfurt, 4 December 1835, some splitting and tears carefully repaired on verso, one slightly affecting the date, some light brown staves towards the right-hand edge, soe show-through from the hand-written menu

Unpublished. This is an unknown work by Johann Strauss, unrecorded in the scholarly literature. 

Johann Strauss began a tour of Germany at the end of September 1835 and arrived in Frankfurt on 18 November.  He gave concerts in Oranienburg on 20 November and a concert ball in the hotel "Zum Wiedenbusch" on 22 November.  After further travelling, Strauss returned with his orchestra to Frankfurt on 2 December and gave another concert there on the 2 and 4 December.
