Roy", the music journalist Bernard Gavoty and the composer's brother Alain, Messiaen discusses articles written about his music during his wartime captivity, apologises for not having written earlier, requests that his correspondent continue to send articles, invites Roy to a concert of his music, agrees to appear with Gavoty at a televised concert of his Vingt Regards sur l'enfant Jésus, describes his travel itinerary to his brother Alain, sends the 2000 francs he promised him, agrees to hold a public conversation with Gavoty at a performance of his Trois Petites Liturgies ("à cette condition...: vous ne parlez que de musique"), thanks Gavoty for his obituary of the late André Jolivet

with: an autograph musical quotation of the main A-major theme from Trois Petites Liturgies, written in black ink on a single hand-drawn stave, 5 bars, signed and dated by the composer ("Olivier Messiaen, 21 juillet 1975") and inscribed ''Pour André Jouniaux"; an autograph musical quotation of a theme from Saint François d'Assisi, 3 bars, written in black ink on a programme for a concert given by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, signed and dated by the composer ("Olivier Messiaen - New York, 16 avril 1986"); and a concert programme, signed and inscribed by the composer ("à New York, le 2 avril 1972, dimanche de Pâques - très amicalement, Olivier Messiaen")
