The case of rosewood with double brass stringing, the six and a half octave keyboard, CC to f4, with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals, two lyre-mounted pedals controlling the damper lift and una corda, part metal frame with three horizontal braces in the treble, the two-piece soundboard stained with irregular dark and lighter brown bands, two part bridge, rosewood music desk, raised on three spirally-fluted baluster legs

Catalogue Note

Pleyel built two other grand pianos with nearly adjacent serial numbers which were purchased by famous owners. No 5693 was owned by Chopin's close friend Countess Delfina Potocka and No 5698 by the pianist Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume Zimmermann.
