Catalogue Note

This is the first edition according to Kobylanska; Grabowski & Rink however give precedence to the French edition by Prillip.  The German edition contains unique variants: possibly Chopin himself made these revisions prior to the dispatch of the French text to Leipzig.  No complete autograph manuscript for this work survives, only an incomplete sketch.
