Stable board.
There is surface dirt and studio detritus to the work, with further surface matter appearing in isolated areas. There are noticeable areas of abrasion to the painted edge of the frame, most noticeable in the top right and centre of the extreme right edge, with further minor flecks to isolated raised areas of the pigment. The top right corner is also slightly rounded off, with further areas of retouching. Craquelure is apparent to the patterned area, lower centre and the lower half of the composition, including to the right of the figure's hair, with further instances visible elsewhere.
Ultraviolet light reveals very minor flecks of fluorescence to the bottom right hand quadrant, and minor flecks elsewhere, including to the painted frame.
Elements of a previous design are visible beneath the work, especially visible under ultraviolet light.

There is surface dirt and studio detritus throughout. There are small areas of abrasion and resultant loss to the exterior painted frame, as well as smaller, isolated areas of abrasion to some of the raised spots of pigment. Craquelure is apparent to areas of the work, including most noticeably the black pigment to the right of the right hand figure and the head and upper torso of the left hand figure and throughout the top band of the black, along the top edge.
Ultraviolet light reveals isolated areas of fluorescence to the shorts of the right figure, and elsewhere to the lower right hand quadrant and the exterior painted frame.
Framed as one in a heavy, dark wood frame, set behind glass in a painted grey mount.
