Condition
Original canvas. There is an extremely tiny minor tear to the centre of the bottom edge of the canvas, which appears to be old and measures less than 1/2 a centimetre.
The surface is in generally good overall condition with strong passages of impasto. There is an area of faint craquelure to the thicker areas of white impasto to the clouds upper left.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish and some pigments which fluoresce that appear to be the hand of the artist. There are on or two tiny minor spots of fluorescence which may be retouching- including a small spot in the lower right quadrant, one near the centre of the lower edge, and one in the sky upper left.
Held in a stained wooden frame.
