Catalogue Note
“Amorsolo’s romantic style appealed to Filipinos and visitors alike. Women Bathers is a typical large Amorsolo canvas with quintessential elements: idealized women, cheerful children, sunlight filtering through bamboo trees, water reflecting extraordinary light; all seen from a slightly voyeurish angle….The colorist in Amorsolo discovered the painterly brilliance of the Philippine sun and distilled this special light in his landscape paintings. The sensuousness of the female form is another Amorsolo trademark.”
