Catalogue Note

Regarding his technique, Muhammad Zeeshan explains: "The fine grey lines [in my work] are done with soft squirrel hair brushes. The hair has to be soft, so soft and pliable. Sometimes you get dead hair and then that will be useless for painting. It is just doing it again and again that gives this work the fine appearance of wisps and tendrils of human hair. You need 'strengthful' hair, mostly the tip is needed for fine lines.” (Zeeshan rpt. Vora, "Caught in Crosshairs: Pakistan's Muhammad Zeeshan," 2008, www.asianart.com).
