Catalogue Note

Somnath Hore, a pioneering Modernist and Bengali contemporary of the Bombay Progressive Artists' Group, was well-known for his bronze sculpture and political printmaking. Deeply inspired by European expressionism, and in particular the Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka, this rare, luminous canvas reveals Hore as a master colorist.
