Condition

Overall the condition is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. Some of the Mother of Pearl panels have been reattached, including possibly the figure of the Virgin; there are a few glue stains in these areas (restorations are best visible from the back). A few small panels appear to be replaced, including sections of the scrolls on the base. A few further panels have been lost, including the two mouldings either side of Mary. There are also a few losses to some of the Mother of Pearl pieces, including to the projecting Mother of pearl elements, such as the tips of some of the sunburst sections surrounding Christ. The figurative applique on the left cross arm is loose. The top two pins in the back are lost. The is minor stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material.
