Of geometric design, set at the front with 14 square-cut sapphires, the thumbpiece accented by 2 cabochon and 32 calibré-cut sapphires, the interior fitted with a mirror and compartment for powder, measuring approximately 3 by 2 by ½ inches, gross weight approximately 75 dwts, signed Ostertag Paris, with French assay and workshop marks; circa 1945.
Condition
In good condition. The sapphires are medium-deep violet-blue and range from eye-clean to lightly included. One of the square-cut sapphires and one of the calibré-cut sapphires each bearing a chip. The compact is opened by squeezing the two sapphire cabochons. The powder compact opens using the gold pull. The mirror with some very light cracking.
