The central motif set with rose-cut diamonds weighing approximately .10 carat, decorated with navy enamel stripes and foliate motifs applied with green and white enamel, the thumbpieces set with three cabochon sapphires, the interior fitted with a mirror, lipstick, pencil, dance card and lidded compartment, measuring approximately 2¾ by 1 5/8 by 3/8 inches, gross weight approximately 95 dwts, signed Cartier N.Y. 461; circa 1930.
Condition
In good condition, especially given the age and delicate nature of enamel. There is some minor enamel damage to the leaves and one with enamel loss, and some losses to the enamel on the chain, but other than some scratches, it is intact. The diamonds are near colorless and decorative in quality. Opens by depressing cabochon sapphire thumbpiece and sliding out from the end. Lipstick and powder compact compartment open by pressing slightly indented segment on side of open compact. Dance Card reads: Ettie Evans, 50 E. 79th Street, NYC, written in pencil. The pencil pulls out from top of box and is stamped 14K. With maker's mark and signed Cartier N.Y. 461 on end of box when open (near thumbpiece).
