Designed as a triple-swag necklace, set with 14 cabochon rubies weighing approximately 95.00 carats, further accented by numerous baguette diamonds weighing approximately 42.00 carats and numerous round diamonds weighing approximately 40.00 carats, internal circumference approximately 15 inches, signed VCA, numbered 33160, with French workshop, assay and maker's marks. With fitted box.
Condition
In good condition overall. The rubies are a rich, purplish-red, moderately to heavily included, semi-translucent to translucent, most with surface reaching fractures and cavities. Each of the yellow gold mountings for the rubies numbered 1-13 and stamped with a maker's mark for Van Cleef & Arpels. The diamonds are approximately F-H color, predominantly VS clarity with some VVS and SI examples. Lays nicely when worn. Fitted with a safety closure. With a fitted red leather box. Also a Cartier maker's mark on tongue of clasp.

A necklace of similar triple-swag design, set with emeralds, was made by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1959 for the Maharani of Baroda.
