The carved agate cameo depicting the Emperor Hadrian, framed by blue enamel and rose-cut diamonds, accented by a foliate and scroll design applied with white, black and rust-colored enamel, further set with seed pearls, French maker's mark.

Condition

Polished background and figure. Matte finish on reverse. Enamel on obverse in good condition, with faint losses to white enamel scrolling border. Pearls well-matched with good luster. Diamonds are Dutch rose-cut and of decorative quality. Reverse of mounting with tarnish to bezel surrounding cameo. Outer bezel has worn finish. Touches of solder at pendant hook at back, pin fitting removed. Assay or hallmark indistinct under pendant loop. Overall condition very good. The cameo alone measuring approximately 7/8 by 3/4 inches.
