The oval carved carnelian and onyx cameo depicting Diana, within an openwork gold frame accented by seed pearls, cameo signed E. Girardet.
Condition
Signed on the obverse, right side. G.A. Girardet.F, with the F for "fecit." Along the opposite edge, engraved G. Ginisilli.Inv. High polish background, matte finish on the figure. Reverse of mounting with applied plaque "Pierret for Ernesto Pierret." Slight tarnish to back of mounting. Retractable and articulated pendant-loop. Pearls mostly well-matched for color with good luster. A few with feathers in the nacre. Overall in very good condition. The cameo alone measuring 1¾ by 1 inches.
