The oval carved agate cameo depicting Venus and Cupid, within an ornate gold frame, surrounded by pearls, mounted as a brooch and pendant, the cameo signed G.A. Girardet F. and G. Giniselli Inv., the mounting signed Pierret.

Condition

Signed on the obverse, right-hand side along edge E. Girardet. Carnelian background with high polish, matte finish on figure. Overall very good condition for the cameo. Pearls well matched for color. Clean skin, nice luster, not tested for origin. Retractable pendant-loop. Solder around inner-bezel on reverse at four stations. Cameo alone measuring approximately 1 1/4 by 7/8 inches.
