Condition

This painting is not lined and there is an inscription clearly visible on the reverse. In the upper right corner, there is an L-shaped break in the canvas that has received some reinforcement as well as another smaller tear that has also been reinforced. The restoration is adequate in the upper right but could arguably be slightly improved. There do not appear to be any other restorations except for some retouches around the extreme edges. The artist has painted with a combination of glazes and pigments that have been scraped and distressed in this work. The condition throughout the remainder of the picture is very good and the painting could easily be hung as is. This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.
