Description
- 18 kt gold, platinum, carved hardstone, laquer and enamel
The compact set to the front with delicately carved cinnabar lacquer, edged by black lacquer, decorated on the sides with red enamel, highlighted by rose-cut diamonds, opening to reveal a fitted mirror, signed and numbered 24324.
Condition
Condition: In our opinion, the cinnabar lacquer is probably dated late 19th to early 20th century, Japanese style. There is minor damage with restoration close to a corner of the lacquer, not noticeable. Red enamel is in good condition. Minor surface scratches and pits on the black lacquer, with repair marks but not noticeable. Signed and numbered to the interior, with French assay marks. 18 karat yellow gold rim around the cinnabar lacquer and the rest are yellow metal. General surface abrasions and scratches to the metal, consistent with its age, overall in good condition.
