Condition

Old glue relining is firm and stable. under a yellowed varnish. the paint surface has been a bit pressed in the relining and thinnesses are noticeable in the foliage, landscape and figures at left side and center foreground. the distant landscape and foliage at right side are better preserved. as a whole, the composition still reads well and presents a decorative image. ultraviolet light reveals retouching throughout left side of sky and upper sky. some of these are to address what appear to be some old repaired horizontal tears. other numerous retouches are scattered in landscape and figures. distant landscape appears untouched. In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame.
