Condition

Panel is uncradled and has a central horizontal join which is only slightly visible to naked eye from the front. paint surface is under an extremely dirty and discolored varnish. there are some small paint losses at the upper left corner, a few on tree trunk, and a few at lower left corner and in left foreground. otherwise, the paint surface appears to be well preserved under the dirty varnish. some craquelure in sky at far, upper right and some scuffs at extreme edges from rubbing of a former frame. it is impossible to see anything with ultraviolet light due to the dirty varnish. this painting has not been attended t in a very long time and would benefit from cleaning and sensitive restoration.
