Description

  • Still life with a roemer, lemons, olives and an over-turned glass
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

Reverend Oliver Raymond, by 1889 (according to an old handwritten label on the reverse);
Mrs. F.E. Raymond (according to an old handwritten label on the reverse).

Condition

The picture has an older relining. Painting is under a fairly old and milky varnish. Some possible older retouches are visible to the naked eye scattered in the background but these are less easily perceptible under UV, possibly because they sit underneath the thicker varnish. Some attention could be paid to evening out the background but otherwise, above the varnish, in healthy condition. In a carved giltwood frame.
