The first pair of cufflinks set with 36 mystery-set calibré-cut sapphires, mounted in 18 karat gold, one cufflink signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 42.738, both cufflinks with workshop marks, maker's marks and French assay marks; the second pair set with 36 invisibly-set sapphires, accented by 16 blue enamel beads, mounted in 18 karat white gold, with French assay marks; total gross weight approximately 11 dwts.
Condition
Pieces in good condition overall. YELLOW GOLD cufflinks are set with medium deep blue sapphires, of good clarity. Minor abasions and nicks to some of the facet junctions. Signed on the gallery of one of the cufflinks. WHITE GOLD cufflinks are set with medium slightly deep blue sapphires of good clarity with a good polish to the surface of the stones. Evidence of sealant or peeling adhesive to one cufflink, not noticeable to the naked eye; the enamelling on the beads is intact.
