Condition
Overall in very good condition and with lovely proportions. The underside of the rails and inside edge of rails with dark black slightly glossy paint/wash. The losses to this finish reveal a nice oxidized and worn surface to wood and mahogany. This finish may have been added to protect against worm damage. Stool finely carved and makes use of high quality solid mahogany timbers. Scrolls overall with minor scratches and wear to the inside edge of rim around seat. drop in seat frame with old worm damage most probably original to stool. Contemporary 18th century needlework with extensive losses and areas of in-stitching.
