Catalogue Note
The design of this very fine armchair with its lyre shaped splat terminating in a rosette is similar to that of a voyeuse by Jacob from the salon des jeux at Saint-Cloud, illustrated by Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVllle Siècle, Paris, 1998, p. 425, fig. C. Also see the same author op. cit., p. 425, fig. B. The reeded scrolled legs so typical of Georges Jacob, can be seen on other fauteuils de bureau by him illustrated op. cit., p. 422.
Georges Jacob received Master 1765.
