with eleven seals of the artist, zhong shan ye lao, zhong shi (3) and ban qian (6), and eight collectors' seals, jing kou he shi shou cang (7), dao shan chen shi shou cang shu hua zhi yin. Colophons by Zhang Tingji (1768-1848), signed Shuwei Zhang Tingji, with one seal, zhang ting ji yin; He Binsheng (active 20th century), signed He Binsheng, with two seals, zhi ling and yi sheng shu hua bu gu ming; Chen Hengke (1876-1923), signed Chen Hengke, with two seals, heng ke zhi yin and shi zeng; Lin Xiongguang (1897-1971), signed Lang'an, with one seal, que yi gu yuan geng diao chu; and Zhang Daqian (Chang Dai-chien, 1899-1983), signed Bashi sou Daqian Yuan, with one seal, da qian wei yin da nian

Condition

- Over all in good condition, except that the papers bear light wears. - Minor restorations of paper loss can be found on two leaves. - Two groups of foxings can be found on two leaves, one on the left bottom corner, one on the middle part to the left, as can be seen on the illustration. - A folding mark in the middle of each leaf from previous mounting, can also be seen on the illustration. - The colors of the illustration appear to be in a greenish tone than that of the actual piece.

Catalogue Note

Notes: The album is followed by a colophon by Huang Junbi dated to 1983 and another by Li Qimao dated to 1989, each accompanied with two seals.

The album was in the collection of He Binsheng and then of Lin Xiongguang.
He Binsheng, zi Zhiling, hao Qingyang jushi, studio name Qingyang jingxuan, descended from a family whose ancestral home was in Dantu and lived in Yangzhou. He promoted the establishment of a constitution and traveled to Japan as an observer. In August 1912, he was appointed Assistant Director of the Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Bureau. He was an intimate friend and a relative by marriage of Chen Shizeng. Lin was proficient in painting and an expert connoisseur. A scroll painting of flowers in ink monochrome by Bada Shanren dated to 1666, now in the Palace Museum in Beijing, was formerly in the Qingyang jingxuan collection.

Lin Xiongguang (1897-1971), zi Lang'an, was one of members of the Lin family of Banqiao, Taiwan. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in 1923 and established the Asahi Kogyo Corporation. He was passionate about painting and calligraphy and was an expert connoisseur, amassing a significant collection of works by Song and Yuan masters. His studios were called Sizhaotang and Baosongshi. He authored the Record of the Baosongshi Studio.
