Description

  • ink and colour on silk paintings
ink and colour on silk, depicting a lady carrying a ruyi sceptre and a dignitary holding a staff, both seated on a tiger skin-covered brocaded chair, framed and glazed

Condition

There are repaired tears to the upper areas surrounding the figures to both. These areas are also somewhat brown from staining and both have a number of areas of foxing. There is an area of repainting to the peacock feather on the dignitary and some areas of minor repainting/repair to the face. The lady has an eary of repainting/repair to the right side of her face and a diagonal area of some white paint and a crease running from her forehead to her right eye. Both robes have been over painted in a dark opaque colouring, which hides the original folds and some of the pattern on the lady's robe. The dignitary's robe has a number of horizontal creases and there is an area of repair (6cm by 4cm) to the left shoulder of the lady's robe.
