Description

  • inkcake
finely moulded in a recessed panel on one side with elaborate pavilions in a rocky landscape with pine trees and misty clouds, the reverse impressed with a lengthy inscription entitled Yunlai gongque (Reciting about Yunlai Palace), signed Jian yuan shi, the top inscribed with two characters reading gongpin (tribute), and the side with a five-character Wanli mark, traces of gold decoration

Provenance

Acquired by a diplomat based in Beijing in the 1950s/60s (by repute).

Condition

The inkcake has a restored break across the lower section, light age crackle to the front and rear face, hairline age cracks to the border and light rubbing to the gilt decoration.
