  • yixing stoneware
the ovoid body rising from a splayed foot to a stepped shoulder, surmounted by a tall waisted neck flaring at the mouth, flanked by a pair of angular scroll handles, the body decorated on one side with a gnarled floral branch, the reverse with a landscape of trees, cottages and distant mountains, all framed by stylised S-scrolls, ruyi and lappet bands, the neck with leafy sprays of chrysanthemum and bamboo

Condition

This rare vase is in average condition. There is a 4.5cm by 2.5cm repaired chip to the rim of which 2cm by 1cm has been chipped again. There are also other smaller chips to various other areas of the rim. Both handles have been damaged and repaired. There is a long crack running horizontally around the whole area at the base of the neck
